- environmentally sensitive areas

Sensitive soils (Es) were the main type of environmentally sensitive area (ESA) mapped in the Lillooet TSA, accounting for 86 percent of total ESA deductions. Given the importance of ESAs in defining the timber harvesting land base, and the high ESA reductions for sensitive soils, further soil and terrain hazard assessments should be completed in the TSA to re-examine their impacts on timber supply.

Since the base case was completed, BCFS district staff have noted that an additional 7071 ha area should have been deducted from the initial timber harvesting land base to account for other sensitive soils and problem regeneration areas inadvertently missed in the timber supply analysis. This is further discussed in the section on aggregate impact.
