BC Library Act Legislative Review Portal

On September 25, 2008, the Honourable Shirley Bond, Minister of Education and Deputy Premier, signalled a forthcoming legislative review of the Library Act while speaking at the annual BC Library Association/BC Library Trustee's Association reception during the Union of BC Municipalities convention. Soon after, the Honourable Shirley Bond, Minister of Education and Deputy Premier, and the Honourable Blair Lekstrom, Minister of Community Development, jointly announced the launch of the review process.

Legislative Review Process

A highly consultative, seven stage process is envisioned, one that will ensure comprehensive stakeholder engagement and consultation. The Public Library Services Branch will communicate with stakeholders at each stage in the process.

Stage 1 Now Underway - March 2, 2009 Deadline for Brief Submissions!

Stakeholders are invited to submit briefs on the specific issues or approaches they would like to see addressed during the legislative review.
